Oxygen. Can’t live without it. Yet I often see athletes misunderstand how to breathe during exercise. Keep these in mind:
Take a deep breath during the easiest part of the exercise. For example, during a squat, take a deep breath from your diaphragm at the top of the squat before descending to the bottom position.
Hold your breath on the way down.
Continue holding your breath as you push through the hardest portion of the lift (the sticking point).
As you pass through the sticking point, exhale and return to the starting position.
Repeat on each rep.
